BRUSHING WITH YOUR TOOTHBRUSH

WHEN? After every meal. If you cannot brush right away, rinse well with water. (soft bristles only)

Brushing 1
1. Use a dry brush with a small amount of toothpaste.  Place bristles where gums and
teeth meet.

Brushing 2
2. Use circular, vibrating motions around the gum lines, 10 seconds on each tooth.

Brushing 3
3. Brush slowly, each arch separately, every tooth.

Brushing 4
4. Brush the lower teeth up and the the upper teeth down.  Brush your tongue and the roof of your mouth too!

FLOSSING YOUR TEETH:

WHEN? Nightly after brushing.
HOW? Use floss threader between gums and braces.
WHY? Removes plaque toothbrush misses.

5. Carefully pull unwaxed floss between wire and braces.  A floss threader may be helpful.

6. Floss carefully around the braces.

7. Floss carefully around the gum area.

8. Floss carefully around each tooth.

It is your job to keep your teeth and braces spotlessly clean!

Brushing: Step 1

Using a dry brush with a small amount of toothpaste place bristles where gums and teeth meet.

Brushing: Step 2

For 10 seconds on each tooth use circular, vibrating motions around the gum lines.

Brushing: Step 3

Every tooth of both arches should be brushed slowly.

Brushing: Step 4

Brush the lower teeth from gum line up and the upper teeth from the gum line down. Brush the roof of your mouth and your tongue too!

Flossing: Step 1

Carefully thread unwaxed floss between braces and wire. You may find a floss threader helpful.

Flossing: Step 2

Carefully floss around the braces.

Flossing: Step 3

Carefully floss around the gum areas.

Flossing: Step 4

Carefully floss around each tooth.
